Education level: Currently on track for less than their parents.
Work: Service industry, white collar. Estimations of 12-15 jobs and 10 career changes over their work span. Their entire life is on the internet for anyone to see.
Cash Flow: Generation Y earning potential is unknown. Currently they make well below their parents at the same age and the vast majority is still living with their parents. Yet with over 1.5 billion Boomers and X’ers out there to support in their golden years, they’d better get started.
Retirement: It ain’t looking good, but on the bright side they have technology, the digital literacy, unlimited access to worldwide information, and a social life at their fingertips (literally). Besides they have a long way to go, anything could happen.
Claim to fame: Generation Y is poised to save the world. Given the advanced stages of technology and science, their no-conflict view between science and religion; their collective minds could very well bring about cures for AIDS, Cancer, world hunger, poverty and war. But they’ll need to get past their personal need for hand holding and accolades.
Generation Y’ers collected participation trophies rather than merit awards. They’ve been told they are special and expect to be treated accordingly. Who can blame them for wanting more for less? They’re dubbed the “selfie” generation for a reason.
